Antonio Cromartie: NFL should make weed legal
Antonio Cromartie thinks the NFL should allow players to smoke marijuana because so many players do it anyway. Marijuana is currently listed as a banned substance by the NFL and classified as a recreational drug/drug of abuse. It takes multiple positive tests for players to be seriously disciplined for marijuana use, but Cromartie thinks it should be allowed.
The New York Jets DB shared his thoughts in a casual interview with ThisIs50.com before the Super Bowl last week.
“They need to just let it go,” Cromartie said while laughing. “They’re just going to do it anyway. They just need to let it go. They need to go ahead and say, ‘Y’all go ahead, smoke it, do what you need to do.’ ”
Though the interview was posted a week ago, it started to receive attention this week. There was a small controversy because the New York Post made an error in their transcription. They wrote that Cromartie said “we’re” just going to smoke weed as if he were putting himself in that group. Cromartie cleared things up on Twitter by saying he wasn’t including himself in that group and that he doesn’t smoke.
