The HBS: Emerging Drama
By: Mike Asti and George Gerbo
It wouldn’t be the start of another Major League Baseball season if there wasn’t asinine drama. Mike “the Buzz-saw” Asti and George “the Howitzer” Gerbo discuss why a veteran and a rookie are hated by their teams.
Josh Hamilton went from drug addict, to All-Star, now back to addict. After self reporting his relapse, Josh Hamilton left the Angels. Both sides waited for a punishment to eventually come. However, a punishment will not happen. Since Hamilton self reported without a failed test or proof, it’s been ruled he can’t be suspended. Does this make sense? Where can the Angels and Hamilton go from here? Would the Angels be more on Josh’s side if he was still the MVP type player?
Players vs team drama isn’t just for veterans. Cubs prospect sensation isn’t exactly thrilled with his lovable loser franchise. Despite a great Spring, the Cubs decided to keep Bryant in the minors, instead of starting the season in the big leagues. By doing this, the Cubs gain an extra year on his current contract. Kris Bryant had some choice words for his organization for their decision. Mike says this was the smart choice by the Cubs. MLB’s Players Association disagrees. Do they have a case?
Even though March has turned to April, the madness hasn’t stopped. We’re down to four! Who will leave Indianapolis the champion of college basketball? If Kentucky doesn’t win the title and finish undefeated, is their season a complete failure?
